About us

The Family institute was established to serve Lithuania’s need for an institution independent of the vicissitudes and special interests of politics, working toward concrete long-term objectives. Family policy has become one of the most widely discussed and criticized Lithuanian public policy areas. Its development has been inconsistent from the very beginning, and up to now, there has been no long-term strategy for family policy.

Our vision – to become the main center of family policy in Lithuania.

Mission – to promote the family by creating and fostering a family friendly environment.

We believe that a well formed family policy would cover various areas of public life, each directly or indirectly influencing the family: family friendly legislation, a general public approach that supports family creation and life in families; media that promotes harmony in families; employers that help find a better balance between commitments for family and work; a family-friendly health care system; an educational system that helps parents train children; among others.

Family institute works to unify family-friendly people and organizations; to encourage authorities to improve the laws and adapt policy measures creating the most favorable environment for the family; to promote a positive attitude to the family in society, the media, among employers and others; to develop the abilities of families and their representative organizations to represent their interests; to reveal the exceptional value of the family in the life of human being and society.

Main activities: representation, education, training, monitoring, scientific, cultural, consulting, informational, publishing and other public services
